KW Titans Split Weekend Series with Sudbury Five and Lake Erie Jackals
The KW Titans wrapped up a busy weekend with mixed results, falling to the defending champions Sudbury Five on Saturday before rebounding with a road win against the Lake Erie Jackals on Sunday.
The weekend began at home on Saturday, January 17, as the Titans hosted the Sudbury Five in a tightly contested matchup. Sudbury, who entered the game averaging 124 points per contest, came out strong and held a narrow lead after the first quarter, edging the Titans 30-28. KW stayed within striking distance throughout the game, trading possessions and keeping the pressure on, but ultimately came up short in a 113-107 loss.

The Titans quickly turned the page on Sunday, traveling to the Hagerty Center in Erie for the second half of the back-to-back weekend. Despite the challenge of consecutive road games, KW showed strong energy and consistency against the Lake Erie Jackals, earning a 104-97 victory to close out the weekend on a high note.

“I am especially proud of the third quarter,” said Head Coach Cliff ClinkScales. “Lately, players have been injured, and since the home opener the team hasn’t started with the original twelve. But that’s why I love this team, any five that start can lead us to victory.”

Saturday’s game also featured the team’s annual Stuff the Hummer Food Drive in partnership with the Food Bank of Waterloo Region, with generous Titans fans donating food and funds. Now in its 18th year, the campaign continues to support the local community. The Titans’ also held Soirée Franco, welcoming more than 200 French students and their families from MonAvenir School to The Aud.

The Titans now turn their focus to next weekend, beginning with an away matchup against the Windsor Express on Saturday at 4:00 PM, followed by a home game on Sunday at 3:00 PM at The Aud. Fans can also look forward to an exciting Superhero theme night and a collaboration with the Children’s Miracle Network in support of children’s health.
