Titans Fall Narrowly to Jackals in Black History Month Celebration Game
The KW Titans came up just short in a hard-fought matchup against the Lake Erie Jackals, falling 117-112 on February 1, 2026, at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
The afternoon also marked the team’s Black History Month Celebration Night, with community partners including Caribana Ignite, Adventure4Change, Afro Family, and NIROW helping create a vibrant atmosphere for fans.
Tip-off was set for 3 p.m., and the Titans held slim leads through the first three quarters, often ahead by just one or two points. The game remained tightly contested until the fourth quarter, when a series of fouls and trips to the free-throw line helped Lake Erie gain a narrow advantage.

Despite several strong defensive plays, including key blocks and steals, KW struggled to consistently turn stops into points, allowing the Jackals to hold on in the final minutes.
Following the game, Lead assistant coach James Robinson “Jaymo” pointed to turnovers, rebounding, and late-game execution as key areas for improvement.
“Good stops have to turn into good possessions,” he said. “We have to value the last few minutes of the game if we want to close out wins.”

Sunday’s game also featured the debut of JD Tisdale, a 6’5” guard from Rogers State University in Flint, Michigan. In limited minutes, Tisdale showed flashes of his athleticism and scoring ability as he continues to adjust to the Titans’ system.

While the result was disappointing, the Titans took positives from a competitive performance and the addition of a new contributor. With a focus on ball control, communication, and finishing strong, KW now turns its attention to building on these lessons in the games ahead.
