Heritage and Hustle: Antoine Mason

If you’ve spent any time following the KW Titans this season, you’ve probably seen the silhouette of guard Antoine Mason, a picture of perfect concentration as he releases a shot. While that image has become a centerpiece of the team’s promotional material, for Mason, it represents far more than just a brand; it is the physical manifestation of a lifetime spent in gyms of the elite.

Standing tall at 6’3″, the Queens, New York native has brought a high-major pedigree to the local hardwood. After a standout collegiate career at Niagara University, where he was one of the nation’s top scorers, and Auburn University, he began a professional journey that spanned the globe.

Mason played for Apollon Limassol in the Cypriot League before joining current Titans head coach Cliff Clinkscales on the Halifax Hurricanes. In Halifax, he emerged as a premier scorer, averaging a career-high 25.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, highlighted by a career-high 44-point outing against the St. John’s Edge.

Now settled as the “guard to beat” for the Titans, Mason carries the legacy of his late father, NBA legend Anthony Mason. Having spent his youth watching his father battle on the world’s biggest stages for the New York Knicks, the high-pressure professional environment feels entirely “natural” to him. Currently ranking 10th in the league with 14.2 points per game, Mason remains a top leader whose game is anchored by a veteran philosophy: “You can’t get too high on your highs and low on your lows”.

On the court, Mason operates like a chess player, constantly reading how the defense chooses to engage him. “It’s always an advantage how somebody guards you,” he explains. “I focus on if they’re playing me tight, or if they give me space, then I can shoot.”. This adaptability has made him a matchup nightmare, but his leadership extends beyond his own scoring. He is quick to defer to the “hot hand,” often setting up teammates to find the best possible look on every possession.

For the KW Titans, Antoine Mason is more than just a face on a poster, he is a high-level competitor carrying his family’s professional standard into every possession.
