Nothing But Net: Ty Pickett BSL Player of the Week
In a week that solidified his status as a premier force in the KW Titans, power forward Ty Pickett has been officially named the Basketball Super League Player of the Week for February 2nd through 8th. This prestigious recognition follows a weekend performance that can only be described as a masterclass in efficiency and competitive drive.
During Saturday’s high-stakes contest against the defending champions the Sudbury Five, Pickett spearheaded a relentless Titans attack, helping the squad battle through ten lead changes until the final buzzer to secure a thrilling 100-99 victory. He delivered a weekend-high 33 points, a scoring feat made even more remarkable by his ultra-efficient 73% shooting from the field.

Perhaps the most defining aspect of his performance was his “automatic” touch at the free throw line; as the Titans navigated a nail-biting finish, Pickett remained perfectly composed, sinking all 11 of his free-throw attempts to ensure the win stayed in Kitchener.
Beyond his scoring touch, Pickett’s all-around effort made his presence felt on every inch of the hardwood. He anchored the Titans’ interior by racking up 10 rebounds to complete a dominant double-double, while adding three steals and two assists to his stat line. This ability to impact the game on both ends of the court was instrumental in the Titans’ defensive stand, which limited a hungry Sudbury team to just 99 points.

Pickett’s poise on the court is backed by a storied professional journey. Before joining the Titans, he spent over three years traveling globally with the World All Stars and the Washington Generals, competing nightly against the legendary Harlem Globetrotters. His international experience spans leagues in Luxembourg, Mexico, and Canada, solidifying his role as a cornerstone for the Titans’ championship pursuit.
“Honestly we just need to focus on how we played in the first 4 games, we need to play KW Titans basketball, we play like a great team and we are preparing for it,” Pickett shared regarding the team’s momentum. “We definitely have the talent, we just need to keep putting it together and putting the work in and we can do it.”

This weekly honor serves as a microcosm of Pickett’s consistent season; through 11 games, he has emerged as a cornerstone of the Titans’ rotation, averaging 15.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and shooting 58.7% from the field. His leadership and elite productivity were the primary engines behind this crucial victory, which propelled the Titans into second place in the BSL standings and signaled to the rest of the league that he and his squad are true championship contenders.
